Emerging and Neglected Disease Vaccines

This session will explore vaccine development for emerging, re-emerging, and neglected infectious diseases. Topics may include malaria, tuberculosis, dengue, chikungunya, cholera, Ebola, Zika, and other diseases affecting global health. Researchers will discuss antigen discovery, vaccine platforms, clinical development, disease surveillance, and strategies for introducing vaccines into affected populations. Particular attention will be given to diseases where scientific, economic, geographical, or healthcare-system challenges have historically limited vaccine development or access. Speakers may present new research findings, clinical experiences, and implementation strategies. The session will encourage collaboration among infectious-disease specialists, microbiologists, epidemiologists, immunologists, vaccine developers, public-health experts, and global-health organizations working to expand vaccine options for diseases that continue to affect vulnerable communities worldwide.
